Among them there are also Marithé + François Girbaud who in their previous collections used pockets to offer the wearer the option to move without the hindrance of a bag getting in the way. With their latest menswear collection, presented yesterday at Milan’s White Homme, the French duo introduced the latest developments of their previous “Wearabag” collection. Transformation and resolutely urban inspirations are the keywords of this new line in which accessories are turned into pieces of clothing and vice versa. Through the “Non Surgical Face Lift” (NSFL) technology, a system patented by the designers that uses lasers to create patterns, designs and a special multi-layered process that allows pockets to be integrated into the construction of the clothes, Marithé + François Girbaud designed clothes with a surprise-effect added. Following the “Living in your bag” concept, the duo devised a bag that can be worn as a piece of clothing, coming up with the “LuNApocket”, a shirt with a half-moon shaped pocket that can be used as a bag, and “LuNAroll”, a shirt that can be folded up like a scroll. It’s a simple and practical trick that combines two different trends, lightweight clothes and activewear that embodies functionality and comfort. While knitwear inserts were used to create decorative and innovative effects, a system of crisscrossing strings was employed to create movement on trousers and shoes in the two main colours of the collection, black and grey. A vivid palette in shades of orange, electric blue, violet and green was added to give a visually striking effect and add energy to the garments. Escape the algorithm!
