After a week of autumn/winter ‘13 campaign releases, the Dazed fashion editors decided to re-interpret, contextualise and uncover the hidden references behind each image in a series of new GIFs. From Proenza Schouler’s birds of paradise to Prada’s seductive and mysterious gang of wet-haired girls, we paired the new campaigns with the likes of artists Francis Bacon and Cindy Sherman.

Picasso's Parade costumes + his portraits of women + Bernard Villemot's post-war ads = Sonia Rykiel AW13

Viviane Sassen's Parasomnia + Thomas Peter's poolside floods = Raf Simons AW13

Francis Bacon's abstract portraits + Rothko's paintings = Prada AW13

Collier Schorr's Blumen series + Leila Jefferys's portaits of Wild Cockatoos = Proenza Schouler AW13

Cindy Sherman's staged self portraits = Lanvin AW13

Anthony McCall's Vertical Works + Queen Elizabeth I = Alexander McQueen AW13

Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Net series + Gerhard Richter's abstract paintings = Miu Miu AW13
