“My dream best friends were definitely Cory, Shawn and Topanga,” says fashion writer Kelsey Garcia about coming-of-age American sitcom Boy Meets World, which first broadcast in ’93. But it was more like girl meets world when she relocated from Miami to complete a double major in Journalism and Gender & Sexual Studies at New York University. “I was never interested in fashion when I was young,” she confesses, but now cites Valentino as her “own personal Jesus” and talks excitedly about interviewing “undeniable legends” like Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler. Her thirst for life stems from those closest to her: “My entire family is ridiculously inspiring. We’re Cuban, which automatically makes us pretty passionate, audacious and a tad loud.”
