The past few week have seen some New York fashion casualties that have spelt the end of Obedient Sons and Daughters and Peter Som cancelling his show. rag & bone however have strengthened their menswear position with a second store on Christopher Street, New York, solely dedicated to their particular brand of easy-to-wear, uncomplicated menswear all resolutely made in U.S. factories.
The 1,800 square foot space will offer the full product range including hand-tailored suiting, all served up in a suitably masculine environment; rough wood beams, slate floors and exposed brick.
The store will also sell the men’s footwear which rag & bone have started producing for themselves as of S/S 09. After a previous partnership with Grenson, they have decided to go it alone on their shoes, focusing on the three dependable styles of trainers, loafers and oxfords. These ‘user-friendly’ shoes feature soft collapsible leather, internal eyelets for easy lacing, padded food beds and arch support and a hand finishing that is made to last. Special mention goes out to the bronze tarnished trainers that seem to glint at rag & bone's future ambitions of creating a fully fledged American lifestyle brand.
