It was with the final few looks – a series of stiff velvet dresses that wrapped around the body – that Armani gave a new perspective on his Emporio collection, in velvet. This elegance reverberated throughout a very timeless outing.
Forties-inspired silhouettes were constructed in neoprene, whilst full-bodied mohair pieces gave the illusion of fur. Seated in Armani's stark white tiered cinema, this show could've been a throwback to female cinema icons, particularly when models appeared wearing round bowler hats and embellished velvet headpieces. It was a collection that developed look after look, from the light pastel jackets worn with asymmetric trousers, to the final broody deep purple and olive green velvet dresses.
