For her AW13 collection, Diane von Furstenberg looked to her own roots. Young DvF was present in the elegant 70s ethos, as well as in the renaissance of her "very, very, very first print", which she designed when she was 23. The classic chain link was recreated in 3D then swirled to create an update that's an instant classic. Of course, the staple DvF wrap dresses were present, but this season in sienna suede or black with a leather lapel. If that sounds like a pretty tame version of the 70s, it's because I haven't told you yet about Diane's David Bowie moment. Coats with metallic flame licks, a purple croc jacket, shiny pink pants and a sprinkle of sequins could be seen from any row. DvF said it best, then and now: "They're clothes for you to take life as a party."
