Donatella Versace opened her AW13 menswear collection with a suit in Prince of Wales check. And throughout the show her tailoring kept not just that spirit of the 80s, but a total dedication to the silhouette.
Once again at the Palazzo Versace, Gianni Versace's via Gesù home, the design diva was having fun, with hyper furs over bare chests and a sexy transparent lace story, which nodded to the underwear special of SS13. Whilst that collection marqued a very singular story of Versace's expansion into underwear, here there were plenty of clothes, a big collection that featured the gold baroque scrolls we'd hope for, new for this season handcraft painted denim and Oxford bags in red leather – a surprise no-one saw coming.
Earlier in the day, we ran into Donatella’s Jack Russell Audrey on her own photoshoot in the city’s golden shopping triangle – and yes, Audrey has her own Versace dog lead. The house of Donatella puts the fabulous back into fashion and she is not about to change for anyone, now or ever. If you have to ask what is ‘fabulous’, then chances are you aren't.
