Fashion / InsiderInsider Access: Karen Langley – Milan Day ThreeHistoric villas, powerful voices and great expectationsShareLink copied ✔️September 22, 2012FashionInsiderText Dazed Digital Insider Access: Karen Langley – Milan Day Three Dazed's team round up each day of Milan womenswear Spring Summer 13 with their thoughts. Fashion director Karen Langley muses on day three...Dazed Digital: What did you experience today?Karen Langley: We did a Gucci re-see and it was amazing to see the collection up close – it was impeccably made, as usual. Gucci is always a great show but for it to be a riot of colour is unusual for them, it was a nice pick me up – and beginning of Milan proper. Everything was on point, colours, prints, cut, brocade and the monochromatic section. It can be easy to get complacement when a lot of designers are quite classic, you almost know what to expect so it's nice to have something completely new thrown at you. You'd normally associate white with the Gucci summer but this moment brought to mind Priscilla Presley, great sunglasses, costume jewellery and amazing flowing trouser suits. Plus it felt modern and minimal in its essence. And there was a nod to the Asian influence carried through in the hair.We visited Tod's and it was a pleasure going to the Villa Necchi, an incredible building full of heritage. There were vintage clips of films shot in Italy looping on screens behind the collections. There were also special pieces customised by the Tod's atelier which were cool – it was great to see an established leather house be experimental and explore the potential within their own brand. It adds even more weight to the mainline collection.DD: Favourite off-catwalk moment?Karen: Langley: Hearing the power of Beth Ditto's voice during the Versus show.DD: What are you looking forward to next?Karen Langley: Fendi – I was absolutely crazy for Autumn/Winter 12. And Jil Sander's return to the house with her womenswear catwalk collection. Escape the algorithm! Get The DropEmail address SIGN UP Get must-see stories direct to your inbox every weekday.
