"There were definite similarities and design elements to Maison Martin Margiela's line 1 catwalk collection, as well as other lines within the brand at the MM6 presentation today. Everything was a play on classic shapes, but with a subtle Margiela twist. There was tonal layering in sherbert and pastel hued fabrics of varying weights and textures. The looks were more wearable and feminine than Margiela's typical beautifully austere clothing. House shapes and ideas were carried through in the accessories especially, such as the yellow clear plastic boots with a cylindrical short heel.
I think it is good for for MM6 to begin showing in New York, the brand seems to be constantly growing and it is interesting to see its progression. Maison Martin Margiela is one of my favourite design houses, and it is interesting to see it stripped down to a basic yet desirable level.
I loved the chunky knits layered over transparent light cotton shirt dresses. The constructed tan jackets were also interesting, I would love to wear them!"
