Fashion / ShowDolce & Gabbana Menswear S/S 13Inspired casting from (Sicilian) boy to man by the design duoShareLink copied ✔️June 24, 2012FashionShowText Elizabeth Fraser-Bell Dolce & Gabbana Menswear S/S 13 Arriving at the label's own theatre, a Dolce & Gabbana show really feels like you'd imagine an Italian fashion show does. A big production, glamorous and slick, you are totally aware this is an event. The brand's Spring/Summer 12 campaign circles around the idea of family, multi-generational clientele in their menswear and this show took the concept and ran with it, through inspired casting. Dazed's Deputy Fashion Editor Elizabeth Fraser-Bell elaborates..."At many of the shows the models power walk down the catwalk – which immediately evokes reality, like when someone dressed brilliantly passes you by in the street, a chance encounter and they're off! Dolce & Gabbana did a great take on that this season through a tribute to Sicilian life, its boys and men. Taking a fresh approach to casting, these faces were ones we hadn't seen anywhere else, really building the idea of a community and practically running down the catwalk, weaving in-between each other as they did it. They could just as easily have been bounding down a picturesque cobbled street, as the Sicilian band played on. It was really fun to watch, a story of identity from boy to man." Escape the algorithm!
