Pistachio, mint choc chip, strawberry, lemon, raspberry ripple- all of our favourite ice cream flavours infiltrated the catwalk for Spring Summer 2012. Mulberry actually served ice-cream before their show and when visiting the new Topshop collection yesterday they served delicious sorbets too, but across London, Milan and Paris a portion of soft pastels and candy colours were served within many of the summer collections.
Meadham Kirchhoff’s offering took sickly sweet to another level - their girls looked like they’d had ice creams splattered into their hair. We loved the sugary pastel palette with a cheeky, naughty but nice twist. Mulberry created dress versions of a Twister ice-lolly along with matching minty streak in very bouffant hair. Jonathan Saunders also offered a colour palette good enough to eat but this time the candy colours took their shape in the form of pretty prints emblazoned onto 50s skirts and dresses; whilst graphic flames burnt up from underneath dresses and skirts on Prada’s pastels. An array of ice cream sundaes were seen also at Valentino in lace, McQueen with matching gimp masks, Rochas with 50s cat eyes shades and head-scarves and Viktor and Rolf an entire ice-cream sundae Swarovski crusted gown. Paris fashion week’s finale was a carrousel of candy coloured delights at Louis Vuitton- the cherry on top!
