For the Spring Summer 2012 collection Vandevorst's use of military motifs on dresses, cropped jackets and shirts was the main attraction and staple feature. The silhouettes were strong, sharp and clean but decorated with lots tassles and fringing to give a balanced femininity to the overall look and feel. Layered pieces in dark silks and leathers and printed scarves wrapped and tucked into belts added further contrasting elements. The colours were deep and dark with the palette strictly staying in the black, navy, deep reds, golds but with the welcomed addition of a beautiful paisley print on several looks. Taking cues from a trip to Kenya, Vandevorst reinforced the grand stature of the models by sending them out in tribal influenced headdresses, making them appear authoritarian all the while exuding a womanly sexiness.
