The British label and the heritage denim brand will work together on their denim looks for their highly anticipated S/S12 show. The duo will be reworking some of Lee’s most iconic womenswear silhouettes, including the Scarlett Jean and the famed Lee Western Denim Shirt - where Lee’s DNA remains strong throughout the range, paired with PPQ's unique combinations of screen print techniques, embroidery and embellishment. Two styles from PPQ’s show will land straight into Lee's Carnaby Street store following the show, on Saturday 17th September, in a limited run of just 10 pieces carefully handcrafted by PPQ’s team. Here we speak to Creative Director of PPQ, Amy Molyneaux about the collection and what's to come. Dazed Digital: What was the inspiration behind the new collection / reworked pieces?PPQ: We looked at inheritance pieces for the collection - the classic jacket - the pearl necklace, things that are always in a good wardrobe. The denim we have collaborated on has been heavily embroidered with Roses & Crests all apparent in our PPQ mainline print.DD: How have you tried to incorporate both brand's identities which on the surface seem quite different? PPQ: The Scarlett jean is a classic Lee piece, as is the fitted denim shirt, and we have worked the PPQ surface embroidery into intrinsic sections of the garments.DD: Why did you decide to show the collaboration pieces as part of your LFW S/S12 show?PPQ: They are in keeping without the street looks we have put together, it's how our PPQ girl dresses, day time she will be out and about and then slip on one of the delicate chiffon dresses for evening.DD: Who would you like to see wearing the collaboration pieces and why? PPQ: The models in the show , so we can see the whole collection together with all the accessories.DD: What has been the most memorable moments of the collaboration so far?PPQ: When the final products with embroidery were delivered and we had 3D versions of our illustrations. The PPQ show will take place on Friday 16th September where four looks will incorporate the one off designs. Escape the algorithm!
