Theatre de la Mode S/S09

Published 29 months ago

This new label attempts to break the mould of traditional catwalk presentations, first with a puppet installation and now a film.

To continue Theatre de la Mode aka Chris Kelly and Sara Flamm’s non-traditional approach to fashion presentation, they opted to show a film that combines both animation and film. Featuring a shadow puppet theatre that echoes their first puppet-scale collection last season “Willow”, the film fully showcases TDLM’s S/S 09 “Undertone”, a capsule range of mens and womenswear.

The loosely draped silhouettes are inspired by the 1920s and the films of the Quay Brothers. Poiret also gets referenced but not with ornate embellishment but with electric toned colour blocking.
