Browsing through James Millar's past collections is a trip to the
fashion fairground. Colours swirl and melt into body-conscious dresses
or vibrate on androgynous knits. Disorienting black and white hooded
prints on a hood jacket recall MC Escher. After graduating with an MA
from Central Saint Martins in 2006, the 26-year-old Scot trained as a
textile designer. Colour is crucial to him: "The colourway on each
piece is always different, so each piece is unique and individual," he
says. He has also been involved in advertisements for high street store
Crystal Ball, a print for designer Nicola de Main, and numerous
customised pieces for shoots for Dazed & Confused and AnotherMan.
He is stocked in Side by Side in Tokyo.
