This July, music, fashion and lifestyle blog Slutty Fringe reaches its fourth year and by a freak act of god, also its 1000th post. Launched in 2006 by DJ and writer Tony Poland as an excuse to get into clubs for free the site has since grown over the years to become an unexpectedly popular and some might even say 'dangerously influential' website.
Fellow blogger, DJ and promoter John Power joined the team two years on and Slutty Fringe nights were soon sweeping the nation's favourite venues such as Cargo, 93 Feet East, and Corsica Studios.
Undergoing a visual overhaul by Stem Design, the new look Slutty Fringe went on to be shortlisted for the Record of the Day Blog of the Year award and expanded the team to include Dazed Digital's own Flora Wong, designer James Kirkup and photographer Tom Medwell. Besides running an eclectic mix series, in 2009, the 'universally acclaimed' Hot Pockets record label was also launched, home to household names like :Kinema:, Shock Defeat! and Line.
To celebrate all this hubbub, next week will be a veritable blizzard of competitions, exclusives, and news of two very special birthday parties in August at The Big Chill House (August 7) and 93 Feet East (August 14), full details to be announced at www.sluttyfringe.com
