Arts+Culture / IncomingLike, Tweet & ShareIt hasn't only been an exciting 2010 for Dazed Digital, but also for all surrounding Social Media, as these stories on Facebook, Tumblr, Foursquare and Twitter showShareLink copied ✔️December 31, 2010Arts+CultureIncomingText Mélanie Crété As the year comes to a close today, we look back at the most exciting social media stories that happened between you and us in the past 12 months... In July, we showcased the work of the CONVERSE/DAZED Emerging Artists Award on Flickr. It was a collaborative and major new art prize, designed to offer an exciting platform to emerging artists under the age of 35. Loads of positive comments and questions suddenly arrived from you in our Flickr mailbox. Thank you guys, and yes, we will consider running another similar award in 2011... If you missed winner Peter Ainsworth displaying his winning effort at the Stephen Friedman Gallery last summer, HERE is another chance to see what it is all about. To kick off the summer we revealed that our favourite British rapper lady, M.I.A, was on the cover of the July issue, shot by Dazed co-founder and photographer, Rankin. To do so, we shared with you a 30 second teaser, followed by a Behind-the-Scenes short clip. The videos got tonnes of views on YouTube, we're sure you've seen them.... if not, now is the time! Do you remember how, after a six day countdown, Dazed Digital mysteriously shut down on September 7, prior to reactivation? A complete new design was revealed when the Critical Mass of 10,000 was reached and people watched their screens simultaneously in anticipation. And you made it happen in only 22 minutes! Dazed Digital's Critical Mass message was calling upon everyone to log on and to spread the Reactivation message all over Twitter, gaining us a 'Top Tweet' status within a few minutes. Thank you to everyone who follow us, tweet and re-tweet our articles and posts everyday. Two years ago, Dazed and the Diesel teamed to form Diesel New Voices, a project aimed at finding emerging young filmmakers, and we finally revealed the result this spring; three strong and beautifully shot short films. As a reminder you can see them all in our dedicated album on Vimeo. 'Skateistan: To Live And Skate Kabul' is a beautifully shot film that follows the lives of a group of young skateboarders in Afghanistan. Massively acclaimed online, the film directed by Orlando von Einsiedel eventually won several additional prizes and will be presented at the Sundance Film Festival 2011. During all the Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Weeks we were checking in shows, press days, parties, presentations and the best local spots on Foursquare. Make sure we are friends so we can hook up next time! In the meantime, remember that all the show reports from the last season can be found on our special Fashion Week micro site. More show reports, interviews and backstage photography to come soon from January's menswear shows. In October, we decided to share with you our favourite 'Shot of the Day' and 'Quote of the Day' from Dazed Digital on Tumblr, as well as regular 'Staff Picks' and legendary covers from the magazine's two decade long history. If Italian-born up-and-coming photographer Ivan Cazzola made a name for himself as a rock music photographer, he also won the gold medal for the most popular 'Shot of the Day' with the saturated portrait he did of his tattooed friends. In November, we revealed our Dazed & Confused's December issue with an exclusive Daft Punk 3D cover. Within just a few hours, there is a clear 'like' reaction on Facebook. The cover was shared all over the world, eventually hitting 100,000 likes. One more time, s'il vous plait! See you all on the other side! Escape the algorithm!
