Street Art and the War on Terror

Xavier Tàpies presents the best images from his new book.
Street art is one of the few really perceptive commentaries available on the war on Iraq, but that's not the only reason it has captured the public imagination over the past three years. It has also done so because it also speaks of the damage we have done to our once liberal values in the West by our failure to react to our governments going against our collective will. What the hell is going on? Who are these leaders? Why are they out of our control? What are they really up to? Street art, with its amazingly satisfying visual shorthand and its layers of irony and alienation, at least makes us pose the questions. That's why it, and this book, is so important.
