Not AnOther Party! And on a Monday night! AnOther Man celebrated the launch of its eighth issue in style with a private view of paintings by German artist Christian Schoeler, followed by a spectacular cabaret party at Bistrotheque in east London for an intimate crowd of friends. Schoeler, who collaborated with AnOther Man Creative Director Alister Mackie to create a series of beautiful oil portraits of young men especially for the issue, showed some of his latest work at the private view. Among those enjoying the art and Patron tequila cocktails were singer Alison Goldfrapp, model Anouck Lepere and designer Sophia Kokolasaki as well as artists Tim Noble and Sue Webster, plus of course AnOther Man editor in chief and party host Jefferson Hack. Afterwards, guests went across the road to Bistrotheque for more drinks in the cosy wood paneled bar before crowding in to the cabaret room to be treated to a cabaret hosted by the lovely designer Pam Hogg. Accompanied by a pianist, Hogg opened the evening with the Beatles' Happiness is a Warm Gun to raucous applause before being joined on stage by musician Bishi. Artist Matthew Stone wowed everyone with his surprise rendition of Elton John’s Your Song whilst director Mike Figgis and his wife, Rosey performed a short jazz set, with Mike on trumpet and Rosey on piano. Finally, designer Gareth Pugh took to the decks to finish off the evening with a set of 80s guilty pleasures. Escape the algorithm!
