Cam'ron explains his no-show at London gig

Apparently, 50 guys were waiting to rush the Dipset emcee the minute he came on stage

Cam'ron? More like Cam'rude

The stage was set for Cam'ron to make a highly anticipated appearance last night at the Forum in Kentish Town, in what was to be his first UK show in a decade. Fans crammed into the venue, the lights dimmed and the show even got as far as opening acts Skepta with JME, Jammer and Meridian Dan and the warm-up DJ set – but Cam'ron didn't show.

He'd definitely been in the building: Tim Westwood Instagrammed a picture of him backstage with the Dipset emcee. But by 10.30pm, it was announced that the Cam'ron wouldn't be performing. Enraged fans stormed to the front and trashed the stage. There were reports of police cars descending upon the venue as the crowd finally filtered out. So what happened to Killa Cam?

UPDATE: Cam'ron has taken to Instagram to explain his no-show:

"So niggas brought 50 niggas to da show to jump me..in London? And rush da stage?!.. But me and juju was doing this (dancing).. Sorry to all my fans dat came to da show but as u can see they tried to line me up. And only da barber lines me up.. They had 15 niggas in front of da stage (that rushed the stage) and 35 niggas outside.. And I was wit 2 niggas..

The people that brought me here were very very nice..but when I asked where the (gun)’s was at?? (That they were suppose to have) they never showed them to me.. Not shitting on them cause they were cool.. But we can’t play when it gets down to hammer time.. So no I didn’t get robbed.. No I didn’t get jumped.. I was chillin doing da salsa wit #Juju..They tried to do my bro Juelz dirty.. Now me..foh.. Thx to da people who put me on to game!! To rest of London.. Love y’all..I really do and apologize again.. But y’all other niggas .. Lolololol y’all blew yak chance again.. Dumb ass gangsta’s lmfaoooo"

Basically, it seems that Cam'ron flaked out because he thought 50 people at the venue were going to attack him. If you're wondering who Juelz is, that's Juelz Santana off Cam'ron's "Hey Ma" and "Dipshits" tracks – and Cam'ron appears to be referring to Juelz's run-in with a couple of London guys way back in 2008, when a video surfaced of Juelz and fellow Dipset member J.R. Writer allegedly being kidnapped over unpaid debts.

Hip-hop site Boxden is convinced that the rapper was on the run from Megaman of So Solid Crew, who has allegedly been on the man's case for the past week to settle an oustanding debt: "Megaman has been trying to find out Cam's whereabouts for this past week. The So Solid member turned up to his show tonight demanding a face to face with the rapper which turned into a scuffle and led to Cam's no show on stage due to lack of security."

We've reached out to Cam'ron's manager but have yet to hear anything back. Whatever went down backstage, it's not the first time that Cam'ron has run out on his fans. Last year, Finnish promoters Oy Kimea claimed that New Era Entertainment owes it $17,000 for booking a no-show Cam'ron. Ditto Brooklyn promoter Lou Galluch, who says that he lost $7,000 after Cam'ron failed to show up for a New Year's Eve gig.
