As we announced earlier this week, our Dazed Spring 2014 issue is out today. The relaunch of Dazed boasts more fashion and photography than ever before in its history, with an action-packed collections special featuring the best of the SS14 collections photographed by Harley Weir, Ben Toms, Ruth Hogben, Lachlan Bailey and styled Elizabeth Fraser-Bell, Robbie Spencer, Katie Shillingford, and Tony Irvine.

Inspired by Scarlet Johansson's body-snatching alien makeover, we get under the skin of seven of the issue's photographers with a few far-out questions…

RUTH HOGBEN shot Hollie May Saker for an interstellar disco collections shoot styled by Katie Shillingford

What question would you ask an alien?

'Do you like my hair?'

What gift would you give to an alien?

A portrait.

Creatively speaking, who or what gets under your skin?

Rendering, exporting films – any sort of waiting for technology drives me crazy!

What planet would you like to fly to?

I hate flying. Can you teleport me instead?

Whose body would you love to take over for a day?

David Lynch. I'm a huge fan, and I'd love to see what sort of crazy goes on in his head!

If you weren't shooting photos for a living you would be...

Selling melons on a beach.

The first photo you ever took was…

At Tate Britain with my dad and brother aged four or five. Then we went home and developed and printed the pictures ourselves. I got the bug!

BAFIC went to Ellesmere Port, Merseyside, to snap Kanye collaborator Evian Christ on his home turf

What question would you ask an alien?

'What do you think of allegory of the cave?' Then proceed to explain it.

What gift would you give to an alien?

A compressed fart from a month prior. I feel like the smell could make 'em feel some type of way.

Creatively speaking, who or what gets under your skin?

The void of creativity in the education system gets me aggravated, angry, and disgusted.

What planet would you like to fly to?

King Kai's planet on Dragon Ball Z, it's amazing. It's only 100 metres in diameter but it's ten times Earth's gravity, and the colour palette is surreal.

Whose body would you love to take over for a day?

Goku Super Saiyan 2.

If you weren't shooting photos for a living you would be...

Definitely making music.

The first photo you ever took was…

I can't remember. Probably my friends on my phone years back in school.

Whose body would you love to take over for a day?

Beyoncé – so I could get finally get those moves right.

If you weren't shooting photos for a living you would be...

Gardening and cooking, probably living on a farm.

The first photo you ever took was…

Of myself with a nosebleed.

ANDREAS LARSSON shot Erika Wall for a collections story styled by Mattias Karlsson

What question would you ask an alien?

'Do you mind if I take a picture?'

What gift would you give to an alien?

Swedish mustard pickled herring as it’s delicious.

Creatively speaking, who or what gets under your skin?

Questionnaires.

What planet would you like to fly to?

Pluto. I like the name.

If you weren't shooting photos for a living you would be…

An architect.

The first photo you ever took was…

Probably something of my family.

HARLEY WEIR shot Hanne Gaby Odiele in an indoor garden for a collections story styled by Elizabeth Fraser-Bell

What question would you ask an alien?

I would wait until spoken to.

What gift would you give to an alien?

Depends what I have available. Could be some broken headphones, could be a handful of receipts, a piece of chewing gum.

Creatively speaking, who or what gets under your skin?

My own idleness.

What planet would you like to fly to?

I would like to stay where I can breathe.

Whose body would you love to take over for a day?

Just your average Joe. I'd like to see what it feels like to be a man.

If you weren't shooting photos for a living you would be...

I teach primary school children on Wednesdays, so I would take that up full time.

The first photo you ever took was…

I was bringing disposable cameras to sleepovers and school trips since at least nine years old, so something like Camembert cheese and a friend.

BRAD ELTERMAN shot master filmmaker David Lynch

What question would you ask an alien?

'Would it be okay if I took your photo and transmitted it back to earth and sold it to TMZ for lots of money?'

What gift would you give to an alien?

A copy of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. It would give it insight into human society back on Earth.

Creatively speaking, who or what gets under your skin?

When I see the ants crawling out of my sink during the summer.

What planet would you like to fly to?

Probably Uranus, because there would be loads of freaks to photograph there and none of them would ask for photo approval.

Whose body would you love to take over for a day?

In 1977, I would have loved to have slipped into Hugh Hefner's body for a month or two. That's a no-brainer!

If you weren't shooting photos for a living you would be...

Directing movies.

The first photo you ever took was…

Non-professionally, my brother leaving the local public library with a bunch of books. I was 13 at the time. Quasi-professionally, Bob Dylan onstage with The Band at The Forum in Los Angeles from my seat.

JAMIE HAWKESWORTH shot 15-and-16-year-old teenagers for art residency “Sleeping Patterns”

What question would you ask an alien?

'Do people on your planet ask you silly questions?'

What gift would you give to an alien?

Probably a photograph.

Creatively speaking, who or what gets under your skin?

I really love looking at old documentary books at my university library from people like Jem Southam and Nigal Shafran. The books are always battered and worn.

If you weren't shooting photos for a living you would be...

A plumber.

The first photo you ever took was…

Not really sure. Probably a family photo at Christmas.
