The prolific and consistently awe-inspiring Jon Rafman opens an exhibition of new work at Future Gallery on Friday 26 April, with a focus on physical and digital archives. The Montreal-based artist looks at the historical human obsession with accumulating and organising information in relation to themes of loss, questioning of the self and the fluctuating definition of what is and isn't culturally relevant, in an archive of anxieties reflecting our age. Andreas Ervik, Composition with Monster Energy Log ARTIST OF THE WEEK: Andreas ErvikNorwegian artist Andreas Ervik has been busy recently, and for good reason. The opening of his solo exhibition of new work Intimate Knowledge last Friday at The Toolshed Gallery in Frome was followed by an appearance in group exhibition Brand Innovations for Ubiquitous Authorship: A group exhibition stolen by Eva and Franco Mattes at London's Carroll / Fletcher, which opened on Monday. Ervik's work connects ancient knowledge with the ephemera of modern consumption habits, teasing our conflicting desires for intimacy through organic material and branded illusions. His website is full of interesting projects and links, including the mind-bendingly good Digital Permutations. PUBLICATION OF THE WEEK: COMMON PEOPLECOMMON PEOPLE is the latest limited edition publication to come from Bronze Age Editions and Museums Press, featuring 100 single-sheet zines made by 100 artists from around the world including Eye Bodega, Hugh Frost, Tao Lin, Israel Lund, Daisuke Yokota… the list goes on - and on. It has been produced using black and white laser print, red, blue and green risograph and a variety of paper stocks, packaged in a hand-stamped box. A launch party at Ti Pi Tin on Stoke Newington High Street is taking place this Thursday; if there are as many guests as contributors, it's going to be a fun-filled night. Petra Cortright on vwvw WEBSITE OF THE WEEK: vwvw.usMartin Cole is the man behind addictive tumblr vwvw.us. Its infinite-scrolling page displays Cole's selection of historical and contemporary abstract paintings - the traditional paintbrush-wielding kind and digital experiments in equal measure - and is added to on a daily basis. With no text or other information to interfere, it's a joy to amble down the site in visual quietude; from Ida Ekblad, Petra Cortright and Sachin Kaeley to Willem de Kooning and Joan Mitchell, it's daily medicine for the eyes.PROJECT OF THE WEEK: The Wrong - New Digital Art BiennaleIt's a long way off but worth keeping an eye on new digital art biennale The Wrong in the run-up to its first opening on 1 November 2013. Set up earlier this year in Sao Paulo, the project will be a web-based platform that aims to broaden the audience for contemporary digital art worldwide. Celebrating 'the best of the best', with 30 online pavilions led by 30 curators, artists and organisations - so far to include Miyö Van Stenis, Petra Cortright and Sara Ludy - The Wrong will feature over 300 artists in its two-month period. The website is dormant at the moment but glimpses of its promising future are coming thick and fast on their Facebook page. Escape the algorithm!
