In the second film commissioned by Opening Ceremony for the launch of their Tokyo store; director Matt Wolf shows actor and musician, Jason Schwartzman experiencing the solitary thrills of kite flying, soundtracked by a wistful indie-beat. “Humberto Leon and I have been friends for a long time. And Humberto and Jason are also good friends and had recently seen my film Wild Combination: A Portrait of Arthur Russell. So Humberto thought to connect Jason and myself to work together on this project.”

Coming from an experimental film background, Wolf came to prominence when his moving documentary on the disco pioneer, Arthur Russell won a slew of awards at film festivals last year. Despite possible hipster connotations this project may bring up, Wolf instantly reaffirms his nerdy film-buff cred by wryly stating that his favourite piece of clothing from the store as the “Fjallraven Kanken Swedish blue backpack.  I'd been lugging around a pretty nerdy LL Bean backpack everywhere since junior high.  But I’ve since graduated to Swedish children’s attire!” Making the Opening Ceremony film proved a little light relief from his current project - working with Jon Savage on a documentary based on his incredible history of youth culture before 1945, Teenage.
