For the launch of their S/S 09 collection Uniqlo is opening an exclusive concession store in the luxury department store Selfridge’s Oxford St branch. The anticipated occupation of the Selfridges floor begins on the 23rd of Febuary and will include stock from the label’s signature basics as well as pieces from Uniqlo’s exciting new ventures including a tailored range and a Japanese denim collection. Covering an impressive 1,000 square feet, the area is set to feature innovative Japanese design details, including electronic mannequin screens displaying complete seasonal looks.

The Japanese influence permeates into Uniqlo’s newest designs. Coinciding with the opening of the Uniqlo store at Selfridges will be the release of the label’s new denim range, Japanese Premium Denim, the result of a collaboration with renowned Japanese denim craftsman, Kaihara. Kaihara has been masterfully weaving denim since 1970, and are known for their impeccable and inimitable quality. In tribute to Uniqlo’s roots Kaihara will produce every pair of jeans in Japan. The range will include two fits, a slim fit in blue, black and indigo and a regular fit in black and indigo, both at Uniqlo’s notoriously affordable prices.

If that wasn’t enough, Uniqlo will also launch a new tailored range to match their classic casuals. The tailored collection for men is fresh, sharp and modern, incorporating easy urban style with timeless fashion. The range will feature single breasted jackets, waist coats, trousers, shirts and ties in a palette of both formal darks and ice-cream lights, with the distinct influence of opulent, laid-back regatta style. Again, this range will be incredibly affordable, and is designed for easy incorporation with Uniqlo’s already expansive and versatile range.
