A new collaboration between Eastpak and Eley Kishimoto for SS 09 sees the traditional backpack get a new lease of life with extreme, vibrant patterns. Both known for their daring prints and innovative designs, the pairing is a sartorial strike ten. Eley Kishimoto are best known as ‘surface decorators’ whose work is independent of contemporary trends and who have an impressive resume of past collaborations including designing with Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs and Alexander McQueen amongst others. Likewise, Eastpak is renowned for individuality and fun design in their backpacks.

The new range, set to hit stores in Febuary, features the signature Eley Kishimoto ‘Flash’ print in blue, red and black on three of Eastpak’s most renowned pieces, the Padded Pak’r, the Delegate and The One. Only 1000 units of each product will be run, making these highly covetable, limited addition pieces. Each piece will be individually numbered, signature labelled, delivered in custom packaging complete with a special edition Eley Kishimoto Eastpak enamel pin.

The best feature however, might just be the ranges affordability, as retail prices will range from £35-£75. This gives fans for both labels access to the special partnership and the limited addition pieces. It’s definitely a wonderful day when designer goods aren’t breaking the budget.

Available from the Eastpak Icon Store, no.1 Carnaby Street, London W1F 9QF from 2nd February 2009.
