Indie-disco crossover act, Lo-Fi-Fnk have left their debut album 'BoyLife' behind – embracing positive, electronic beats and tongue-in-cheek lyrics. The Swedish duo's signature melodic sounds have been given a facelift with their return, with two glittery dance gems for their forthcoming single on Moshi Moshi due for release on September 20th. A-side 'Sleepless', blends full-on electro with the vibes of a 90s Ibiza warehouse rave to a perfectly pop effect where nostalgic sounds are evoked whilst the B-side, 'Layin’ Lo' showcases Lo-Fi-Fnk’s old school indie side complete with catchy choruses.

Dazed Digital: How does your new single move away from your old stuff?

August Hellsing: The new single for us is a million times better than the old stuff, since the release of the debut album it has been more than four years of touring, mixing, producing, singing and living. But we didn’t want to reinvent our music rather upgrade our sound and that’s actually harder than it might sound. Sleepless is the perfect step between us 4 years ago and where we are today.

DD: Where is the best place to listen to your music?
August Hellsing: I would say on the iPod and just about anywhere if you’re tired of your life and just want to get away from it all.

DD: Any dream collaborations?
August Hellsing: I would love to have a supercheesy duet between Leo, Prince and Akon, maybe a love song that contains some call and response and absolutely no holding back on anything whatsoever. The song should at least be 25 minutes long and so powerful that someone in USA would sue us for something.

DD: What's next?
August Hellsing: Right now we’re doing the last touches on the upcoming album, might do some gigs as well but most of all prepare ourselves for the phase of Lo-Fi-Fnk. We want every detail to be perfect, the best way to describe the feelings before an album release is to compare it with a wedding. It scares the hell out of you but you love it.
