A beautiful mingling of dissonance with celebrated Los Angeles noise experimentalist David Scott Stone (dubbed the Eno of The Melvins) and the sublime vocals of Aska Matsumiya from the indie band Moonrats. The duo also play together with Aaron Rose in The Sads who debuted a little intimate silent show in the Dazed office courtyard last year. AsDSSka’s Hold On was the first 7” release on Family Bookstore Records with an alluring video, seemingly inspired by The Red Balloon and directed by Spike Jonze and Crystal Moselle. Lucky Dragons. Lucky Dragons is my favorite duo in Los Angeles. Their music makes every moment feel surreal, like the best mushroom trip.

The LA Ladies Choir. This is a project that I started with Becky Stark (of Lavender Diamond, The Decemberists). It's like a traditional choir with a twist. We write most of our songs, and perform at various events in our community here in Los Angeles. There's nothing quite so satisfying as creating one voice from many... And really, you just can't go wrong with 30 amazing women.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. They are like a psychedelic pop collective. Their Songs makes you instantly happy, and sort of make you want to change the course of your entire life. A Heart Food.

Can. It’s been the beat and melody to my fondest memories and will be to the
ones I have yet to make.

Os Mutantes. Sounds like the kind of smiles you only see when you're traveling through foreign countries, all toothy and heart warming.

Areski and Brigitte Fontaine is my fantasy pick. L'Incendie is the official sound track to an afternoon bath / a drunken bath. That is the height of pleasure.

“Sputnik Sweetheart” by Haruki Murakami has been the bible of my inspiration for many years. My heart is so wrapped up here in it that I can't think of other books that compare. Although I did go through a huge Balzac phase recently and just coming out of it. But first love will always be first love

I love watching time-lapse slow motion footage set to different music. You realize how precise every motion we make is and how powerful everything is. It is beautiful.
