In previous years, War Child’s annual fundraising event, ARMY OF YOU, has boasted such names as Friendly Fires, Late Of The Pier, SMD, Metronomy, Hot Chip, Kid Harpoon and Noisettes, to name but a few, and this year the line-up is set to be just as impressive. Filling out the bill for ARMY OF YOU’s 2009 event are live acts including the likes of Filthy Dukes, We Have Band and The Phenominal Handclap Band as well as support from DJs Mat Horne, StopMakingMe, Leo Greenslade and Firas. In the spirit of summer, there will also be romantic outdoor acoustic performances by Jeremy Warmsley and Alan Pownall.

From venues like Koko and The Scala, War Child is now lighting out for the wild west, setting up base in Notting Hill’s The Tabernacle for the spectacular charity event. The venue itself has an immense past, haunted by the ghosts from gigs of some of Britain’s most iconic performers including The Clash and Pink Floyd, as well as playing host to some of history’s most poignant moments, having featured speeches and meetings held by Malcolm X and Muhammad Ali. The Tabernacle has also recently been refurbished, so in conjunction with it’s rich and momentous history, it’s set to be the perfect venue for ARMY OF YOU.

ARMY OF YOU is on Wednesday 15th July, 2009 at The Tabernacle in Notting Hill. BBQ from 6pm. Doors: 7pm – midnight. Purchase advance tickets here.
