Only one year after graduating from Central Saint Martin’s, Mark has already made waves with the industry experts (including the jury of last year’s ITS competition) with his innovative and complex knits. Showing at On/Off alongside Alexander Koutny and Rozalb de Mura, his collection was certainly the show’s biggest highlight. What is remarkable about Mark’s clothes is the technique – a fine mix of lycra and viscose threads intertwined with holes and knitted fringes for a grungy yet sophisticated effect. Kept in a strict palette of white, red, black and blue, the clothes had a couture-like quality and they skimmed the body like stretchy, intricate cobwebs. “I design for a woman, who knows what she wants and what she’s getting herself into” said Mark after the show. And confidence is certainly something that a girl needs to pull off those dark, bodycon creations. The show left hordes of girls lusting after Mark’s dresses, including it girl Peaches Geldof, who personally came to congratulate him after the show. Escape the algorithm!
