If for his own mainline show, he was dreaming about being somewhere over the rainbow, then for Louis Vuitton, he took the dream a step further and unabashedly looked to the glamourous side of fifties attire to translate to modern day wear. The nipped in waists and bosom-enhancing silhouette was pushed to the max, emphasised by the casting choices that included Laetitia Casta, Catherine McNeil and Elle Macpherson. It never really veered away from the the theme at hand as the models strolled around the fountain at the Louvre, sauntering along with an insouciant and elegant air. Prim and proper jackets and coats, dresses that flared out past the knees, accessorised by gloves and of course the bags, which included multiple lux versions of the classic Speedy. To prevent pieces from falling too far into a Mad Men costume rail, there was a real focus on textural mix such as a grey buttoned up leather coat, waffle knitwear and lace with sequins shining through as well as a good judgement of palette that kept the colours dusty, muted and refined. The daywear strolling finally played out as a ballgown bonanza with tiers of tulle, ruffled silks and voluminous florals sweeping the floor.
