Robert Brewster Newbold founded workwear factory and shop in Derby in 1885 and by 1898 had expanded to build a factory called "The Shaftesbury Works" and became the go-to-place for three piece suits, overalls, miners' wear, military and emergency service uniforms. Paul Smith took over R. Newbold in 1991 but it sadly disappeared from the UK and instead gained a following in Japan and became massively successful there.

Kyle Stewart and Jo Sindle behind Goodhood have got together with R. Newbold on a quest to make mountaineering outerwear look acceptable on the streets in. The puffa, the check and many zips/fastenings are there.  However, added to tgese components are unexpected colour combinations and details such as printed logo linings, which gives this collaborative range of jeans, shirts and jackets, extra panache.
