Fashion / OverdoseDazed Overdose Thurs 18th Sept: Katie ShillingfordMargaret Howell plays to her strengths and a very odd guestlist at Vivienne Westwood gets the crowd talking.ShareLink copied ✔️September 19, 2008FashionOverdoseText Katie Shillingford Margaret Howell didn’t stray from their signature staple with a beautiful classic approach to spring summer 09 and fresh faced girls had red stained lips. One of my favourite girls, Sara Blomqvist opened and closed the show. At Danielle Scutt, I loved the ragged hair, which was pulled, twirled, twisted and knotted with multi-coloured scarves. The shocking bright and sometimes, acidic colour palette nodded to the 80s' as did a lot of the shapes. Transparent chiffon, lycra crop tops and swimming costumes gave the collections a sexy edge but slouchy jumpsuits and knotted bandana details were young and fun. In the evening Vivienne Westwood’s Red Label show at Earls Court was an exciting event. Front row, Pamela Anderson sat alongside a man in a rubber mask with rubber hands. No one knew who he was but rumours were spreading that it was Michael Jackson! I don’t think it was but the celebrity factor did create a buzz in the vast venue although poor Nicola from Girls Aloud was stting in the second row looking every bit the grumpy goth. My favourite details were sting-ray shaped hats and pointy bra tops and I loved Vivienne and Jourdan Dunn running down the catwalk together. Escape the algorithm!
