The event returns following a successful debut in June which raised £7,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and Heavens Hospice. This time around the auction will raise funds for Kids Company and Teenage Cancer Trust. Former Dazed & Confused art director, Peter Stitson has joined the Gifted team following a conversation with the tutor of his screen-printing course at St Martins, who persuaded him that he could help the team out with his art contacts as well as by donating his own work.“The Teenage Cancer Trust and Kids Company are ones we felt strongly about,” says Stitson. “Lots of the artists involved are quite young, and it’s good that it’s helping young people.” The art collector and philanthropist Fred Mulder donated the Picasso print to Gifted and has given another to the charity initiative 1010, which hopes to cut 10 per cent of all carbon emissions in 2010.For Stitson, one of the standout pieces from the auction is by San Francisco-based artist Andrew Schoultz whose red and black ink collage captures his trademark blend of chaos and intricacy. “The base value of the art is around £1400 to £1500,” says Stitson. “With the auction, we hope that we can double that amount”.The auction will take place at 6pm at 9A, Liverpool Street on November 26 Escape the algorithm!
